Sažetak
Inactivated Newcastle disease virus (iNDV) induced strong IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma response as measured by blood mRNA abundance 4 hours following inoculation both in B13/B13 and B21/B21 chickens. Infection with the very virulent RB-1B strain of Marek’s disease virus (MDV) did not modify the basal of blood IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma mRNA abundance from 24 to 168 hr p.i. in B13/B13 chickens, highly susceptible to MD. However IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma blood mRNA response to iNDV was drastically suppressed as soon as 24 hr p.i. In contrast, the vaccinal strain HVT did not exhibit any suppressive properties on blood IFN mRNA response. The genetically resistant B21/B21 chickens behave quite differently. RB-1B and HVT challenge reduced the basal level of IFN-alpha mRNA at 24 hr p.i., but not of IFN –gamma. Nevertheless the iNDV-induced IFN mRNA response remained unaffected. Blood IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma mRNA were restored at a high level by 168 hr p.i., but the response to iNDV disappeared. Thus oncogenic MDV might be able to induce a very precocious phase of systemic immunosuppression of IFN response in susceptible chickens, contrary to resistant chickens
