Sažetak
Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic autoimmune disorder mediated by T-lymphocytes to a still unknown antigen. Recently, increase in serum lipids has been linked to OLP as lipids have a key role in receptor signalling of lymphocytes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate triglycerides, cholesterol, liver enzymes (AST, ALT, GGT) and blood glucose levels in 138 patients with OLP. There were 99 women and 39 men, age range 30-90 years, mean 64.33 ± 13.17 years. Statistical analysis was performed by use of Student t test. The results of this study show that OLP patients have increased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. We might conclude that in Croatian patients with OLP, screening of cholesterol and triglycerides should be performed, unlike serum liver tests.
