Sažetak
The purpose and aim of this paper on the perceptions of career development is to confirm or refutethe main hypothesis that a career relates to personal goalsrather than the goals of an employer or an organization based on the conducted research (using survey, N = 396). A major limiting factor in the research was the fact that respondents had no work experience, which reinforces the conclusion that it is necessary to strengthen the institutional and organizational support in the personal career development during education. Research methods used for the purpose of this paper include survey, statistical method, the Mann - Whitney test, comparison and compilation method, and descriptive method. The research results show the distribution of opinions on the role of an organisation in an individual’s career development. Respondents believe that a career relates to personal goals, which confirms the hypothesis. It is therefore necessary to draw pupils’ and students’ attention to the importance of managing their careers, but also bringing it in line with the organization’s goals.
