Sažetak
A new general route for the formation of U-shaped cavity structures with different attached functionalities has been developed using 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction between norbornenes and cyclobutene epoxides (ACE coupling) and norbornenes and s-terazines. Wall functional units (eg, crown ethers, redox active naphthalenes, bidentate ligands) have been attached stereospecifically to rigid U-shaped policyclic frameworks at controlled distances and orientations.
