Sažetak
Direct lightning strike to an overhead line can cause insulation failure and consequently induce high frequency overvoltages. In insulation coordination studies, it is necessary to determine the overvoltages, which propagate along the line to its end substations and through their transformers. For such studies, traditional, low frequency transformer models are not relevant. Therefore, in the past few decades, many high frequency transformer models were developed. Recently, in the CIGRE brochure 577, an overview of such models has been given. In this paper three different transformer models have been compared in the time domain for the case of a direct lightning strike to a 20 kV overhead line. The simplest model used is the BCTRAN model extended with capacitance matrix. The other two models are more complex. The first one, a “Grey Box” model, is based on finite element method calculations and simple transformer geometry data, while the second one, a “Black Box” model, is based on the state space equations, rational fitting and frequency response analysis measurements. To better explain the results in the time domain, the frequency response of each model is provided.
