Sažetak
The Adriatic Sea countries face significant problems regarding cross-border water resources management. DRINKADRIA project aims at developing a common methodological framework, for efficient and effective cross border water supply and resources management, taking into consideration different resources types (surface and ground water) emphasizing in drinking water supply intake. The common methodology is based in four pillars: climate characteristics and the climate change, water resources availability, water resources quality and finally water resources management. The final aim is to assess both present and future vulnerability of water resources based on a common methodology. The final outcome is the water resources vulnerability index. The methodology includes the identification of all possible drivers influencing water resources vulnerability, the evaluation of the vulnerability of water resources and the assessment and classification of drinking water risks under climate change conditions. In particular climate characteristics are identified for Adriatic Sea region and climate change scenarios are taken into consideration providing data for temperature and precipitation values changes. The Water Exploitation Index is determined, providing data for future water availability. The Water Quality Index for surface and groundwater bodies is also identified taking into consideration land uses changes and pollution loads. The adaptive capacity, which is the ability of a system to adapt or modify to cope with climate changes, is also taken into consideration. Finally, the integrated vulnerability index is estimated for the Adriatic Sea region and the Corfu test area.
