Sažetak
The use of pulmonary arterial catheter (PAC) the "golden standard" in the hemodynamic monitoring, is associated with increased ratio of ICU complications, prolong stay and treatment in the ICU as well as substantial material costs. "Pulse contour cardiac output" (PCCO) is less invasive method of continuos monitoring. This monitoring system enables the evaluation of cardiac and vascular state as well as assessment of intravascular volume. Using this method cardiac minute volume and systemic vascular resistance can be continuously monitored while obtained messurment data determine intra thoracic blood volume (ITBV), extravascular lung water (EVLW) and global enddiastolic volume (GEDV). Cardiac minute volume, stroke volume and venous blood return do not corre¬late with pressure messurement (CVP, PCWP), especially in the patients on mechanical ventilation with high intrathoracic pressure. The above mentioned varriables (CO, SV) correlate with measured intrathoracic volumes (HBV). Analysis of variation in stroke volume (SW) helps in determination of the ve¬nous flow in to the right heart in mechanically ventilated patients. This method can be easily applied to pediatric patients.
