Sažetak
The participation of young drivers in fatal traffic accidents is of high concern and is considered as a global social problem. There are many studies taking place just to identify the factors that do cause traffic accidents by young drivers. The training of drivers is one of the main factor of traffic safety, the training which is held on driving schools and last at most three months depending one the curriculum of respective states. The professional framework of the driving school plays a crucial role, including also the driving instructor who is responsible for the practical part of the training. The driving instructor in accordance with the methodical and didactic principles as well as based on the regulations in force holds the practical part of the training. The driving instructor has to be a good psychologist, and a person who can share and give his knowledge and experience to the driver candidate. The skills and techniques of driving the driver candidate learns during the training so that the driver then is capable to drive independently thus contributing to the traffic safety. In developed western countries where the education and training is realized in systematic, continuous and comprehensive way, there has been a reduction of the number of traffic accidents with fatality by young drivers. Regarding the effect that the driving instructor has in increasing traffic accidents during the training of the driver candidate research has been done especially in developed western countries. On the framework of the European Union the project “MERIT” has been financed on the field of training of candidates including also the “Minimum European Requirements for driving Instructor Training”. In the continuous research done related to this issue, in this paper a research has been done to found whether the relation between the level of education of the driving instructor and traffic accidents of young drivers exists.
