Sažetak
A large number of accidents which influence the environment, destroy assets and sometimes threaten human lives, result from the improper and untimely maintenance of public service infrastructure. The work presents several threatening events related to improper maintenance of public gas installations. Based on author's subjective insights and examination, a special review of the gas explosion in Pula on Friday, January 11, 2001 is given. Possibilities of inducing higher quality of infrastructure maintenance are considered, through legal framework and particularly through emphasized role of insurance companies' activities.
