Sažetak
Nowadays, a systematic approach and sustainable use of water and energy in all branches of human activities are not required for financial reasons only. In addition to economic criterion, environmental and social criteria should be taken into account. The paper deals with the application of Critical Period Method for the water irrigation system design on the example of the local football club "Obreš", on location of Sveti Ilija, Croatia. In addition, the paper presents the application of multicriteria method Promethee for selecting the optimal variant between two analyzed variants ; Variant I and Variant II. Both variants of the irrigation system include a solar photovoltaic (PV) generator and inverter, pump station, water reservoir and pipeline. Variant I is based on the water tower reservoir, while Variant II is based on the usage of solar batteries. PV energy is used as energy source for the water pumps. Groundwater in combination with rainwater is used for irrigation water demands.
