Sažetak
The focus of this thesis is on the processes of reading and listening. The main aims are to compare the two on the lower and higher level of processing, connect them to the working memory and test the verbatim recall of the participants after reading and listening a short text. First the decoding of letters and sounds is defined in order to take a closer look at similarities and differences between reading and listening. We try to explain the processes on the higher level of understanding going through several theories about the construction of meaning. Finally, before illustrating the process with the experiment, we try to explain the verbatim recall or the immediate memory of what people read and listen to.
