Sažetak
EBSD analysis (Electron backscattered diffraction) is technique for the microstructure –crystallography analysis, which is usually employed for phase analysis and the orientation of crystals. With this technique it is possible to identify and index all seven crystallographic systems and it is used for determining the crystal orientation, the phase identification, grain boundaries, morphology etc. In recent years there have been increasing demands for better properties of pipelines steels mainly for higher strength together with better toughness. Those properties can be generally improved by controlling the chemical composition of steel as well as optimizing production parameters, but many studies have shown also a direct connection between the microstructure and mechanical properties which means that it is necessary to optimize the welding parameters in order to achieve with the required strength and toughness which is better the welds of the steel. The microstructure of acicular ferrite in welds proved to be an optimal microstructure with excellent combination of high strength and good toughness. The good combination of properties is the result mainly due to the relatively high density of dislocations and the fine-grained nature of the acicular ferrite structure with high angle grain boundaries. In this paper, the influence of the amount of CO2 in the shielding gas of MAG welding on the acicular ferrite and its morphology, as well as on the formation and the amount of other microstructural phases that formed in the welds was investigated. The results showed that the EBSD analysis is very good tool for the exact characterization of the microstructural phases in welds. Also, optimization of parameters is essential for obtaining the largest possible amount of acicular ferrite in welds which consequently have a direct impact on the increase of the toughness of welds.
