Sažetak
We study single and double ionization of He--like atoms from the ground state by absorption of a single photon at intermediate (around 1 keV and above for He) incident photon energies. Using our generalized AFT approach we are able to identify the dominant correlation effects which determine the total cross sections and the (shake--off) ratio of double to single ionization in this energy range, not just for the asymptotic high energy limit obtained previously. We obtain analytical expressions for the cross sections and double to single ratio valid within a few percent in keV region for He. Our analysis shows that the relatively slow convergence of the double to single shake--off ratio (despite the cancelation of the Stobbe factor) to the shake--off limit is due to the large contribution of final state correlation involving angular momentum transfer between the fast and slow electron.
