Sažetak
This text is composed as a short introduction to the fundamentals of constitutive modeling in thermoplasticity, with particular emphasis on the calculation of stresses when material properties are temperature dependent. The kinematic framework used is suitable for the finite strains ; the simplification to the small strains could be carried out by employing the standard procedures used in continuum solid mechanics, see (Simo and Hughes 1998, Malvern 1969, Fung 1965) for example. The reader is introduced to the basic kinematics, following by the balance laws of continuum mechanics. The model can be classified as a hyperelastic. Kinematical basis for plastic deformation is so-called multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient into the elastic and the plastic part. Starting from balance equations, evolution equations for configuration and temperature are carefully derived. Based on the principle of maximal dissipation, evolution equations for internal variables are derived as well. The temperature dependency of material properties important in thermoplasticity is described. A J2 constitutive model is taken as an example and cornerstones of the procedure are demonstrated. Finally, without going into too much detail, guidelines for selecting a numerical algorithm are given.
