Sažetak
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the treatment needs of patients in the University Dental Clinical Centre of Kosova and analyze the most frequent treatments performed on patients with comprehensive dental needs in this centre. Materials and Methods: A descriptive study was done between 2010 and 2011 were treatments performed on 23320 patients were analyzed. Results: Out of 23320 patients, 24.08% or 5617 patients required treatment in oral surgery, the most frequent treatment was tooth extraction with 91% (or 7896 extractions) In dental pediatric and preventive clinic the total number of treatments was 4022 or 17.24%, out of this number indirect pulp cap procedure was the most frequent with 27% (3776) In orthodontic clinic number of treatment performed was 3701 or 15.84 % main treatment required was orthodontic Removable active appliances 96% (1057). In restorative and endodontic department number of services offered was 3286 (14.09%), leader of them were amalgam restorations 42% (4484), the composite sealers 38% (4099). In prosthetics department were 2190 (9.39%) patients where the most frequently service was fixed prostheses. In department of oral and periodontal diseases, 2164 (9.27%) patients demanding service where removal of dental soft deposits was the most common service with 69% (2188) Conclusions: The oral status of Kosova’s adults is unsatisfactory, due to insufficient oral hygiene leading to a large numbers of carious teeth, and/or inadequate quality of fixed dentures. Also, socioeconomic factors and absence of programs for integrated prevention and control of dental caries may have a role in oral health.
