Sažetak
Aim: To present the orthodontic and prosthetic treatment of a case with much expressed endomaxilla with hypodontia of most of the maxillary teeth. Materials and methods: We present a female patient (age 15) with much expressed hypoplasia and retrognatia of the maxilla, with hipodontia of lateral incisors, second premolars, second and third molars, and the rest of the maxillary teeth microdontic. Anterior and lateral crossbite with totally missing occlusion were also present. The patient had pronounced concave profile. She was diagnosed with clinical examination and cephalometric measurements. The patient refused orthognatic surgery, so we decided to treat her only with orthodontics and prosthetics. We used fixed appliances (SWA) with superelastic wires combined with protraction Delaire Facemask applied 14 to 16 hours per day, and also with class III elastic traction and criss-cross elastics. After orthodontic treatment prosthetic compensation with zirconium bridges was done. Results: Considerable forward displacement and extension in all directions of the maxilla was achieved after 28 months of orthodontic treatment .The profile, lateral and anterior crossbite were corrected. The space between the canines and central incisors was closed ; however space between canines and premolars was increased and kept for prosthetic replacement. After retention period and after the patient achieved adult age, prosthetic treatment of the missing teeth was done with zirconium bridges. Conclusion: On occasion, intensive and complex orthodontic treatment with stimulation and forward traction of the maxilla can be an effective alternative treatment modality for maxillary hypoplasia, especially when the treatment takes place in a growth momentum. The correction of the occlusion and the applied prosthetics, led to correction of the oral functions and facial aesthetics of the patient
