Sažetak
List of impacts and their indicators is an invaluable tool in environmental assessment of every project, especially in the case of comprehensive hydro technical projects. In Croatia, however, the lack of a well-established methodology to determine impacts poses serious challenge for reliable environmental assessment. In the absence of the well defined National list of impacts and indicators, the lists must be developed for each project separately, in order to follow the overall impact of specific project. The list must be connected with the information on the priority goals and their specific objectives, so that relevant impacts and corresponding indicators can be chosen. Impacts can be quantified by a number of chosen indicators where possible in order to measure the progress and efficiency of mitigation measures in relation to the current state of the environment- In our contribution, we explore the problems arising for the absence of the unified list of impacts and indicators for hydro technical projects in Croatia, and review the relevant sources as starting point for the development of such list. We consider possible impacts of hydro technical projects on environmental elements such as: fauna, flora, soil, water, air, protected areas, cultural heritage, landscape, local inhabitant’s health and life standard, use of natural resources, material goods, and other. Finally, we give an example of the list of impacts and their quantifiable indicators for the hydro technical projects as a starting point for further development.
