Sažetak
In the last decade the overall discourse on migration and asylum in Croatia has become securitized, along with the process that we witness in 2015 with the coming of refugees to the EU. Moreover, all along the Balkan route refugees seem to find insufficiently built national asylum and integration systems, ones that could only partly guarantee them sustainable means of residing and integration. This presentation tries to answer on main question what were Croatian responses to recent refugee flows? Additionally, we discuss long- term integration policies (or lack or miss/implementation of them) as social and economic prerequisites, a resource or an obstacle, for the local integration of immigrants and refugees? Furthermore, we tackle conditions under which Croatia could become not only transit but also the final destinations for the refugees (especially through readmission and/or quota system of relocation and resettlement), and try to answer how that diversity would affect Croatian economy and culture as well as socioeconomic situation of refugees themselves.
