Sažetak
Flat slabs are slabs supported directly on columns, without beams between the columns. Punching shear strength is a very important parameter for the design of flat slabs, especially when the brittleness of the punching appearance is taken into consideration. This paper shortly presents historical development of the flat slab system as well as the issues regarding the punching phenomenon. In addition, experimental research conducted by the authors on the punching of slabs with and without shear reinforcement is described.
