In socialist Yugoslavia Consumer revolution impacted the everyday lives of different social strata in contradictory ways. The popular Croatian television series Naše malo misto (Our Small Town) is used to illustrate the complexities of adapting to rapidly changing social and cultural conventions in the context of modernisation and market socialism.
