Sažetak
There are many theories abouth occlusal plane determination in edentulous mouths, but no one can provide individualy precise determination. Balkwill's angle is inclination between occlusal plane and Bonwill's triangle plane. This inclination is permanent even among races (Fletcher). Clinically it is very difficult to locate mid points of the condyles, which are posterior markers of Bonwill's triangle. Point Axis is often used in face-bow tehniques, and can be used for modification of Bonwill's triangle. Purpose of this investigation was to determine amount of the modified Balkwill's angle and it's variability. On a sample of 60 dentulous patients terminal hinge axis point was located by Lauritzen's tehnique and marqued with a steel pellet 0.5 mm in diameter. Standard cephalogram was obtained for each patient. Points Axis, Incision inferius and Molare were traced on each cephalogram. Balkwill's angle defined with this points was measured on each cephalogram, and results were statistically evaluated. RESULTS: mean value 21.83 standard error of the mean 0.62 coefficient of variation 19.00 standard deviation 4.16 Mean value is almost identical to value in Fletcher's investigation, where measurements were made on casts mounted in articulator's space. Determination of Balkwill's angle with point Axis is correlated with face-bow mountings and occlusal plane orientation.
