Sažetak
In this paper, the authors describe the conceptual and methodological determinants of the Business Process Management (BPM) application in institutions of Higher Education (HE). It is argued that the BPM approach enables the institutions of HE to achieve a higher level of performance, conceptualized in terms of stakeholders' and social interpretations (comparable to the established standards of performance in nonprofit and public sectors). In addition, a separate analysis of the opportunities for integration of BPM into the strategic management systems in HE is conducted, with the emphasis on the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) performance management system. The conceptual part of the paper is illustrated by an example of best practice, related to the BPM implementation at the Faculty of Economics Split, Croatia, including its linkages to the strategic performance management of the institution.
