Sažetak
This study examines whether ethical organizational culture impacts organizational climate of Croatian firms or not. Perceptual data on ethical organizational culture and organizational climate were collected from 159 employees including owners, CEOs and managers through a questionnaire survey. The survey was conducted in 2015 in Croatian small, medium and large firms. The questionnaire for assessing ethical organizational culture contained eight different dimensions, while the one for ethical climate contained nine dimensions based on the Ethical Climate Questionnaire (ECQ) developed by Victor and Cullen (1988). Research propositions were tested using correlation analysis. Findings indicate that firms, which have invested more effort in implementing dimension of ethical organizational culture, have higher level of ethical climate than those who failed to do so. Ethical organizational culture has the greatest impact on climate of benevolence (e.g. team interest) and on climate of principles (e.g. laws and professional code). It was also found that communicating ethical values as a dimension of ethical organizational climate has the greatest impact on all ethical climates and negative impact on egoistic climate. Findings suggest that ethical organizational culture has positive impact on organizational climate and can be beneficial for Croatian firms. The paper intends to give executives practical advice about the benefits of ethical culture and climate in a highly regulated business environment today.
