Sažetak
The modern fantasy genre flourished after Lewis Carroll released his Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865). Since then, many authors interpreted it in their own way. This paper takes the original Alice character and compares it to Walt Disney’s version from 1951 and Tim Burton’s version from 2010 in order to examine the process that Alice undergoes, which extends throughout all three works: identity crisis. This term was studied by the psychologist Erik H. Erikson, whose theories will be taken into consideration, as well as those of James Marcia who elaborated on Erikson’s identity theories. Furthermore, cultural and historical background of children’s growing up issues will be investigated in order to understand how growing up identity issues changed during time, as well as how they affected Alice in different works.
