Sažetak
Long-term cooperation between TAREKS and Agricultural Institute Osijek (OS) regarding maize breeding and seed production was extended by including several promising maize hybrids – varieties in the official maize variety trials of Turkey. In 2010, 1000-1200 maize hybrid combinations were tested from which 30-40 combinations were selected for the pre-registration trials conducted in four locations in Turkey in 2012. The best experimental hybrids were chosen for official maize variety trials grown in 2013. Objective of this work is to present some results for the best OS/TAREKS hybrids for yield from the pre-registration trials conducted in Adana, Manisa, Mersin and Altınova in 2012. Among 21 maize hybrids evaluated in the trials, the highest yielding maize varieties in Mersin were OSSK 654 and OS 6012 with 1577 and 1537 kg/da, respectively, whereas OS 6011 was the best variety in Altınova. In average across the four locations, the highest yielding new OS/TAREKS hybrids were OS 6011, OSSK 654, OS 6019 and Kırmızı ranging from 1410 to 1454 kg/da. These four hybrids were included in the official maize variety trials of Turkey in 2013.
