Sažetak
The first agrometeorological forecast in Croatia aired on the national radio in 1990. At the same time it was published in some periodical agricultural journals using monthly weather forecasts and further seasonal forecasts by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Since 2004, agrometeorological forecast has been increasingly promoted in all mass media (TV, newspapers, Internet, text messaging). One such agrometeorological forecast is broadcasted on the national television as part of an agricultural programme. Each forecast is made for the following week and contains the prognostic maps of soil temperature, precipitation and maximal and minimal air temperature using ECMWF products nine days ahead. Another agrometeorological forecast feature is part of a morning TV show. Apart from the standard prognostic materials, specific ECMWF products used are sunshine duration, evapotranspiration and soil temperature at the different levels. Also published are temperature sums which have recently popularized agrometeorological forecasting. Prognostic temperature sums are estimated according to ECMWF prognostic air temperatures. As far as is known to us, neighbouring countries (possibly other EU members), do not air agrometeorological forecast regularly on TV or the radio. Consequently, farmers, as well as other audience, in the neighbouring countries, turn to the Croatian agrometeorological
