Sažetak
This presentation tries to depict women’s clothing and a visual atmosphere of Dubrovnik Republic at the time of its ending when the entire Adriatic coast was swirling in a large European transformation. Statute of Dubrovnik from the 1272. marks the beginning of Dubrovnik Republic and Marmont's act of determination of the Republic 31. 01. 1808. ended the era. Ragusa or Dubrovnik Republic was the place in time and space where enlightened and useful patricians and citizens existed. In Dubrovnik, moderation, peace, justice, composure and morality are high at price, while greed, extravagance and luxury are strongly condemned. Dubrovnik was no matter how open to influences from the outside, a very conservative environment, where changes are performed gradually and under the watchful eye of the authorities. Everyone wears clothes, so surely it cannot be difficult to discuss their significance? Cultural history of the Republic considers both visual and written evidence from all available sources of information. In this work a painting of an unknown artist that portraits noble women of the time Maria Natali – married Ghetaldi Gondola, will use as an inspiration for the analysis of the classicist period that influenced women’s fashion. Every discussion of clothing and dress needs a research of the every day life. Class groups in Dubrovnik Republic depend upon one another that it was impossible to survive without each other. Civil structures are made of aristocrats, servants, newcomers, foreigners, envoys and they all participate in this arrogant and proud classicist finale of Dubrovnik’s glory.
