Sažetak
Bennett movement is one of the biomechanical factors of occlusion. The direction and amount of movement have an influence on the height and position of the cusps and fissure system of a tooth. Individually we can only differentiate immediate side shift (ISS), the beginning of Bennett movement. Considering the literature, the relationship between occlusion and ISS is not totally clear. Therefore, the goal of this paper was to measure the amount of ISS in a group with cuspidguided occlusion as well as in a group with freedom-in-centric type of occlusion and to confirm a possible correlation between the amount of ISS, type of occlusion, and age and sex of tested subjects. The test sample consisted of 98 subjects: 68 having cuspid-guided occlusion and 30 with freedom- incentric occlusion. The registration of Bennett movement was made by the »Quick Analyzer« device, and the measurement of ISS using the Vernier micrometer. There was no difference in the amount of ISS concerning the sex and age of the group as a whole, as well as individual types of occlusion. The average ISS was measured to be 0.79 mm in the group with cuspid- guided occlusion, and 0.82 mm in the group with freedom-incentric occlusion.
