Sažetak
The paper analyzed the specifities of business of building companies and the current situation at this market. Accordingly, the needs and possibilities of applying modern information technology (IT) in the realization of construction projects were analyzed. We stressed the effectiveness of their implementation given the much wider possibilities of organizational measures in construction industry. Guidelines for the development and application of IT in construction practice in Croatia and neighboring countries were proposed. We pointed out the necessity of adjustment of the organizational structure of companies in order to achieve realization of effective implementation of IT.
