Sažetak
The book Step Dancing in Ireland: Culture and History encompasses the chronological 250-year-long history of Irish step dance, from the 18th century to the present. The author follows the historical and cultural development of the dance form in the context of the political and social eras of colonialism, nationalism and post-colonialism, up to the most recent and popular globalism. All three of the described dance practices, although different aesthetically, historically and contextually, are tied to the area of North Kerry, a rural region in the south-west of Ireland.
