Sažetak
In the paper are presented the basic determinants of Communist Party historiography in Croatia and Yugoslavia within the wider picture of Communist Party historiographies in the countries of the Eastern Bloc. At the same time the basic similarities and differences in their functioning are emphasised. It attempts to enlighten their interrelations defined with the Tito-Stalin conflict and with later periods of warming and repeated cooling in relations between Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. Political relations between the Communist Parties of the countries of the Eastern Bloc and the KPJ (Communist Party of Yugoslavia)/SKJ (League of Communists of Yugoslavia) resulted in tensions between the representatives of Communist Party historiographies on both sides. Representatives of the party historiographies of Yugoslavia behaved very critically towards the method of research and writing about the history of the parties in the Eastern Bloc. Soviet, and then other party historians classified Yugoslav communists as revisionists. From one side this resulted in the distrust in interrelations, even at the time of improving political relations, and the endeavour that they monitor what the opposite side do. A sample analysis of party historiography in the Eastern Bloc is the report by Ljubiša Stankov from 1959 which is presented in detail in the paper.
