Sažetak
The purpose of this paper was to explore perceived entrepreneurial self-efficacy and desirability of self-employment. Survey was conducted in March 2014 on a sample of 201 visitors of an entrepreneurship event organized by Faculty of Economics, University of Split, Croatia. Conference was organised as a non- formal education event about entrepreneurship fostering discussion, shared experiences, and success examples provided by well known Croatian entrepreneurs. The sample consisted of 59 male and 142 female respondents. The age of respondents was in the range from 18 to 48 with mean age of 23.8 years. Most respondents (92.5%) were university students. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of three parts - Perceived desirability of self-employment scale (PDSE), Perceived entrepreneurial self-efficacy scale (PESE) and socio-demographic questions (sex, age, education level). Descriptive statistics were calculated for all items on scales of self-efficacy and desirability of self-employment. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was employed to test the factor structure of 16-item scale of entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Pearson r- coefficient of correlation was calculated to determine relations between variables. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test for group differences in entrepreneurial self-efficacy and desirability of self-employment. Results and practical implications of findings are discussed.
