Sažetak
Hydro power system of hydro power plants in northern part of Croatia (Hydro North ; HN) consists of remote monitoring and control centre (Control Centre North ; CCN) and of three hydro power plants (HPP) within Drava river catchment in Croatia. In the control centre the functions of catchment supervision, production planning, operation and control are conducted taking into consideration main goals which are to increase the power production by optimization of water utilization and a very important task of management of high water waves (flood protection). The main reasons for the revitalization of aged equipment and applications were lack of economical or technical justification for further system maintenance and questionable reliable operation of the existing system in the future. The revitalization included the following applications and functions: SCADA, production planning and short-term optimization, automatic generation scheduling, voltage and reactive power (U/Q) control, smart metering, database integration, data warehouse and web portal. The revitalization also comprised telecommunications system expansion, adaptation of process control and information systems in HPPs and upgrade of algorithms in the RTUs in HPPs of HN. Most of the applications are tailor-made, although for some functionalities commercial program packages are used. The paper gives an overview of the revitalized information system in CCN, which addresses development, engineering, and implementation of tailor-made applications and solutions as well as commercial applications.
