Sažetak
The aim of the research was to estimate genetic parameters for litter size in Romanov breed reared in Croatia. A total of 10723 phenotypic records, and all available pedigree information (4097 individuals) were used to estimate variance components with the repeatability animal model. Age at lambing, parity, and season were fitted in the fixed part of the model, while herd, permanent (non genetic) effect of an animal, and direct additive genetic effect of the animal were fitted in the random part of the model. The estimated heritability (r2=0.06), and repeatability (r2=0.07) are in line with previous reports for this breed, and its crossbreds abroad.
