Sažetak
The paper describes in detail a computer system for control and regulation of intelligent ship engine "WECS-9520, " (Wartsila Engine Control System) which was specially developed for Sulzer two-stroke engines with common rail. Computer system "WECS-9520", which consists of two parts: the electronic unit - (one per engine), which supervises the pressure in the common rail and pumps, controls and performs communication with an engine control room and cylinder control modules "FCM-20" – (one per cylinder) is described. The cylinder control modules "FCM-20", which is located close to the cylinders and interacts with local industrial computer network with two buses "CAN Bus" are considered. Cylinder control modules control hydraulic oil pumps, opening and closing the exhaust valve and the volumetric control of fuel injection. In the end, a comparison was made between automatic control of conventional engine and intelligent engine and specifically considered the advantages and disadvantages of automation of both engines.
