Sažetak
Limitation of global temperature growth below 2°C till 2050 has become one of the most important global climate issues. Emissions of greenhouse gasses, especially CO2, are contributing most to this growth and goal of the European Union is to reduce them for 20% till 2020. This objective is transferred on municipalities through Covenant of Mayors initiative which was established by European Commission in 2008. Joint Sustainable energy action plan for island of Korcula according to option 2 of Covenant of Mayors was developed in this paper. Possible ways for joining the initiative were presented together with the methodology for developing SEAP. Joint SEAP according to option 2 enables small neighbouring municipalities to develop one strategy and together act towards achieving goals taken by submitting to the Covenant of Mayors. Energy consumption and Baseline CO2 emissions inventory for municipalities on island of Korcula in public sector, households, tertiary sector and road transport are calculated. Total CO2 emissions for listed sectors in baseline 2012 are 42 923 tCO2, and with recommended actions and measures they can be reduced for 22.02% till 2020. There are planned joint actions, so all municipalities on island can cooperate together to maximise their limited financial and human capacities. There has been suggested establishment of action group for SEAP implementation which will include representatives from municipalities and other stakeholders.Financing mechanisms for implementation of suggested measures are presented, so increase in renewable energy generation and energy efficiency can be achieved.
