Sažetak
The quantitative determination of (trace) elements in pine needles is mainly performed for environmental studies. Not only the uptake of parent species is of interest, but also changes caused by hybridisation are of concern for monitoring studies as well as for treatment of contaminated soils by application of hyperaccumulators. In the present study needles of Pinus nigra and Pinus thunbergiana as well as of their hybrids were investigated. The study focused on their content of essential and non essential metals, namely Al, As, B, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cu, Cr, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Se, Sr, and Zn. The elemental concentrations were determined by ICP-AES and ICP-MS after acidic microwave assisted digestion. The obtained results were evaluated regarding increase and decrease of uptake in the hybrids. Comparing the elemental concentrations in the needles of the parent pine species with their hybrides, the hybrids have higher amounts of Al, Cd, Mn, Ni, Mg, Mn, and Zn. Furthermore the influence of the mother or father plant on the uptake behaviour of the resulting hybrid were discussed, as shown examplarily on Cu. Its content in pine needles is dominantly influenced by the mother. In the samples of P. nigra x P. thunbergiana 5.8 mg/kg were found (P. nigra 4.3 mg/kg) in comparison to the hybrid P. thunbergiana x P. nigra with 0.15 mg/kg (P. thunbergiana 2.2 mg/kg).
