Sažetak
Cosmopolitanism and empire have had a long history together. The idea of cosmopolitanism almost certainly would not be possible without a political organization such as empire, which unites different peoples and cultures under one rule. This essay will examine that connection, its political, economical and societal implications throughout the history, as well as in our present time. It will also take into consideration the works of theorists such as Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri on the new concept of sovereignty which they call Empire, and will try to provide an answer to the question: Is there a place for cosmopolitanism in the Empire, what is its fom, and how to influence that form in order to be in harmony with the spirit of philosophical teachings that have been more than two thousand years old.
