Sažetak
Croatian Pharmaceutical Society has a Junior Pharmacists Section (JPS) that is active for ten years now. JPS organizes lectures on numerous pharmacy related topics, which are always well attended and are a part of lifelong learning for Croatian pharmacists. Members of JPS also ontribute to Croatian national pharmaceutical Journal by publishing scientific and professional papers. JPS also cooperates with Croatian Pharmaceutical Students' Association. In the last year alone, two public healthcare projects were conducted by JPS. During World Diabetes Day free measuring of blood glucose level, blood pressure, waist and hip circumferences, body weight and height and body mass index calculation were performed. Information on risk factors and symptoms of diabetes, the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity, and non-pharmacological measures was emphasized. European Antibiotic Awareness Day was also marked by a coordinated action which included lectures on responsible use of antibiotics, bacterial resistance, and possible consequences. Hundreds of official campaign leaflets were given away. Although this is a small contribution to public health, raising awareness among young and future pharmacists, of the importance of getting involved can surely make a difference. It can contribute both to public health, as well as the pharmaceutical practice.
