Sažetak
In the last decade Tovarnik (Croatia) suffer from climate changes. Caused by this new weather conditions the sugar beet weevil (Bothynoderes punctiventris Germ.) appears regulary in the last 5 years causing seriously damages to sugar beet crops. Insecticide treatments did not show necessary effect on weevil suppresion. Faculty of Agriculture with the Croatian Science Foundation and European union throught Instrument for Pre- Acession Asisstance (IPA) initiated a project "Technology transfer in sugar beet production: improvements in pest control following the principles of integrated pest management" aiming to solve this problem. Mass trapping of sugar beet weevil population suppression is caried out on 5, 4 km2 with pheromone density of 15 trap/ha on previus year sugar beet fields. In 2012, the over-wintering population according to soil survey in autumn was 6.7 milion, 44% of weevil population were cached on pheromone traps during the season. In 2013 spring soil survey did not shown any weevils on some fields, but during the vegetation we captured more then 2 millions of beetles what makes reduction of 30% of autumn and 50% of fall population.
