Sažetak
It is known from previous studies that it is more difficult to treat asthma in patients who smoke. We hypothesized that in smokers a granulocyte induced inflammation worsens course of disease. To test this hypothesis we compared nasal smears in asthmatic smokers and non-smokers. Seventy eight subjests with allergic asth ma and rhinitis mainly due to house dust mites sensitization were tested. The intensity of smoking was estimated by measuring of carbon monoxide (CO) expired air. In addition, FEV1 and total IgE were measured in all patients. At the start oft he study asthma symptoms were treated only with short acting bronchodilatators when required. Our results
