Sažetak
Republic of Slovenia possesses significant developmental resources which are basis for diverse and quality tourist offer. Success of development and provision of a high quality tourist offer is determined by a high level of knowledge and experience of management in tourist destinations, meaning primarily high quality of human potentials as a key factor of achieving competitiveness on the tourist market. It is necessary to continuously monitor ongoing trends in tourism education in tourism, with an objective to offer top knowledge to the students, and maximum possible training for a successful entry on the labor market. The purpose of this study was to determine acquired level of knowledge of students of a newly founded Faculty of Tourism in Brežice about tourist activities of their country, and to determine does the Faculty at the moment offer significant level of knowledge and skills about certain dimensions of tourist offer of the Republic of Slovenia. The objective is to determine results and to offer propositions for the future development of the Faculty as an institution of excellence. The study will present results of a survey acquired with a use of a special instrument for self- evaluation of student’s knowledge. The data will be processed by descriptive statistical analysis techniques.
