Sažetak
Marine organisms have been neglected for many years when compared to most of terrestrial plants when we talk about isolating their metabolites and compounds for different medical purposes. In last six decades that injustice has been fixed and scientists discovered richness and effectiveness of marine metabolites. Red algae Sphaerococcus cornopifolius is marine plant that is being explored often in laboratories worldwide. Many of its isolated compounds which belong in group of bromoditerpenes showed antitumor and antimicrobial effect. That fact is good motivation for marine chemists to continue exploring this red algae. Task of this thesis was to isolate as much as possible bioactive compounds of red algae Sphaerococcus cornopifolius and to check if they have been isolated ever before. Isolation of bioactive compounds of the red algae Sphaerococcus cornopifolius started with vacuum liquid chromatography on the initial extract. Fractions received after that process were combined and signed with new code names. First fraction was identificated as allo-Aromadendrene. Fourth fraction was treated with HPLC and result of that process were two separated clean compounds. Those two compounds were identificated as Bromosphaerol and Sphaerococcenol A. Process of isolation of bioactive compounds of the red algae Sphaerococcus cornopifolius continued, but ther isolation and structure elucidation is beyond scope of this work.
