Sažetak
Along with the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Sphinx is one of the greatest enigmas and the most studied ancient monument of mankind’s history. There is no other place teeming with so many researchers looking into the mysteries of mankind’s past, which may cause history to be rewritten. The Great Sphinx is one of the world's largest and oldest statues, yet basic facts about it such as the real-life model for the face, was it a lion, when it was built, and by whom, are debated. These questions have collectively earned the title "Riddle of the Sphinx“. In this presentation, an interdisciplinary, scientifically based approach which combines functionalism, medicine, biomimetics, art and science will reveal most known and well established „knowledges“ and confront them against one newer or less known and very small variable, evidence or insight in order to reveal and maybe answer the Great„Riddle“ like what species sphinx was and purpose of the sculpture. Thus, this presentation will be a sample of how one small detail, deviation or variable could give us a whole new perspective on our accustomed beliefs and knowledges on a sample of the Great Sphinx of Egypt. Do not just copy, catch on. Fantasies excluded.
