Sažetak
The paper deals with interorganizational collaboration (IOC) as one of the most prevalent trends in contemporary business environment induced by globalization. As economy is now characterized simultaneously by more opportunities and threats, organizations are increasingly competing on the basis of cooperation with other business subjects. More precisely, there is a positive trend in the number of strategic alliances and partnerships formed, as well as an increasing number of terminated interorganizational arrangements due to low percentage of their goal attainment. One of the factors that contribute to the success or failure of the partnership is organizational culture or the perceived differences in values and norms that are deeply embedded in the way businesses are handled. In order to investigate the differences in success of organizational partnerships with regard to organizational culture as a determinant of its success, we conducted an empirical research among alliances and partnerships in Croatia. The results revealed that organizational culture can be a factor of key influence on everyday communication and knowledge exchange between partners. Further analysis, however, revealed that perceived differences in organizational culture do not influence the process of delivering common benefits of partnerships as one would have expected. However, it was confirmed that the level of trust between partners was substantially influenced by cultural differences.
