Sažetak
The Horizon 2020 FET project subCULTron aims for achieving long-term autonomy in a learning, self-regulating, selfsustaining underwater society and culture of robots in the high impact application area of Venice, Italy. The proposed heterogeneous system consists of 3 different agent types: on the seafloor, artificial mussels are the collective long-term memory of the system and monitor the natural habitat. On the water surface, artificial lily pads interface with human society, delivering energy and gathered information. Between those two layers, artificial fish move, monitor, and explore the environment and exchange information with the mussels and lily pads. The sub-populations perform memetic/cultural learning algorithms on their specific local data, promoting sub-culture development, similarly to how human society does on land. Overall, the final goal of the project is an artificial society underneath the water-surface acting in the service of a human society above the water.
