Sažetak
This article presents the preliminary results of the first research ever undertaken on the delinquency of political parties and models of their liability for criminal offences. In particular, an original contribution of this research is to evaluate the adequacy of criminal responsibility of political parties from the standpoint of the need to balance the colliding interests of justice and democracy. The results of the research have particular relevance for the Balkan region because most countries in the Balkans (in particular the countries of former Yugoslavia) adopted criminal responsibility of political parties without any critical analysis of the consequences of such approach. Different cases as examples of different models from Balkan and other countries shall be used for empirical evaluation of various effects of proceedings against political parties (e.g. the first case of convicting a political party in Croatia, constitutional dissolution of political parties in Turkey, prosecutions against members of a neo-Nazi political party in Greece for participating in a criminal organization etc.).
