Sažetak
The word profession is usually understood as a particular vocation, a type of activity or a permanent occupation which serves as the means of subsistence for a person. Throughout the centuries, different professions have developed and organized themselves in order to protect their interests. The accounting profession is one of them. Over the course of time, different segments of interests have appeared within this profession ; consequently, narrower specializations also appeared, leading to the development of the accounting profession as we know it today. Depending on the specific circumstances and demands of a particular region, a wide range of specialist types of knowledge and orientations have developed. The specific circumstances of the accounting profession in the Republic of Croatia, the basic types of accounting occupations, and the conditions for the basic and additional accounting occupations will be discussed.
