Sažetak
The article focuses on various interpretative traditions dealing with the 1971 Croatian national movement. A taboo theme during Yugoslav communism, the process failed to attract much interest within the post-1990 Croatian academic discourse. After identifying the causes for this scholarly gap, the bulk of the article provides schematic categorization of the few available interpretations, mainly memoirs written by the actual participants, depending on their ideological background. Finally, an analysis of the student participation in the movement is provided in order to suggest one possible approach that could prove helpful to further research.
