Sažetak
The world as it is today resembles one big network. We discover that everything is connected with everything and that new phenomena cannot be expressed by using the old ways. Therefore, the framework provided by systems theory represents a suitable way to describe the current reality. In this paper we study the company and its operations in terms of the system analysis. Survival is one of the main goals of any system, so systems tend to format higher order systems. Accordingly, the question is why some business combinations work and others don’t. According to the research, it appears that quantification of synergy plays a crucial role in the decision whether to create a business combination or not. The aim of this paper is, in order to help decision makers, to emphasize the importance of quantifying synergy and the necessity of creating new models due to the new criteria in today's business operations.
